My first two months in Chapala are coming to an end and I’m about to return to my other great home and sweet lake in Oakland, CA but I’m finding it hard to leave this magical place. I truly wish I could clone myself.

I’m going with pretty empty suitcases but filled with bubbling art ideas. For the last two months I’ve been designing a new series of 3D pieces and figuring out solutions to technical challenges. My work goal, for the next 8-10 weeks in my studio in Oakland, is to create a couple of pieces so that by June I can begin working with a foundary in Zapopan, Guadalajara, MX.

I have a goal I hope to meet yet I’m open to anything and, of course, time will tell how this all unfolds.

Also, in November I’ll be teaching a 10-day art and fun workshop in Chapala that will start with the Day of the Dead and end with The Fair of Masters of Mexican Art. Check all info out here and please spread the word:

For the last few months I’ve been working with Art21 a wonderful foundry in Zapopan, Guadalajara, MX. I’m learning so much from these generous professionals. This is the small indoor studio where they work on Polymer pieces.
How wonderful it is when a collector sends me a photo of my art in their new home!
In sculpting I approach every medium as a carver uncovering what is within the material and myself. In stone I use chisels, mallets, grinding and cutting wheels; in clay - knives, cutting wire, and wooden blocks.
I’m introducing some new work in my series Poems in Color. Come read about it!
